Hot Section Blades

A turbine blade is the most important component in gas turbine which are responsible for extracting energy from the high temperature, high pressure and high velocity gas flow exited from the combustion chamber. To survive in this difficult condition, turbine blades often use following common methods:

  • Using specific materials like superalloys
  • Using cooling passages
  • Using specific coating

Two major methods of producing hot section turbine blades are vacuum investment casting and forging.
